Wil Myers, the Royals third-round pick, is on his way to the Idaho Falls Chukars.
The 18-year-old catcher out of high school signed late with the Royals and the club first assigned him to its rookie-league affiliate in Burlington, N.C. He went 2-for-16, .125, in four games in North Carolina. The two hits included a triple and a home run.
A consensus first-round pick who fell do to signability, Myers will become the fourth catcher on the roster.
Salvador Perez has handled the bulk of the duties with 2009 ninth-round pick Ben Theriot serving as the backup. Joey Lewis is listed as a catcher but has yet to play a game behind the plate.
