Chukars starter Ryan Morgan could only watch his bullpen blow the four-run lead he handed them. Aaron Rosenblatt / Post Register
Missoula rallied from a 7-1 hole to tie the game in the sixth and manufactured a run in the eighth to pull off a 8-7 win in the final game between the Chukars and Missoula all season.
Left-handed reliever Derrick Saito takes the loss after giving up one run in the fifth before surrendering three in sixth before recording an out when Ollie Linton ripped a three-run double to left field. That was the end of Saito’s night but Linton came around to score the tying run, leaving Saito with five earned runs allowed in 1+ innings.
Missoula resorted to small ball in the eighthinning. After Nelson Gomez walked and Chris Davis singled to leadoff the inning, Alberto Diaz dropped a sacrifice bunt. With a drawn in infield, Rafael Hilario ground to Alwin Perez at second base. But because he had to drop to his knee to backhand it, he only had one play – to allow the go-ahead run to score in order to get the out at first.
The loss returns the Chukars to last place in the South Division.
Pick up a copy of Wednesday’s Post Register to read more on the game. Hey, why not? There won’t be a game Wednesday since they have the day off.

Well, we managed to get out of last place for one whole day!….sigh. Stop the madness!
Looks like Jim Gabella was none too happy with the pitching staff last night. I’m glad I’m not a pitcher! (as my first pitch on Monday will attest!)
