It didn’t take a showing of power to top Missoula 4-2 Sunday as 14 of the Chukars 15 hits were singles.
The Chukars took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Patrick Norris scored on an error off Sean McCauley’s bat. They tacked on another run in the second inning when Shawn Griffin drew his second walk of the game, this time with the bases loaded, to push Neder Severino home.
The Chukars extended their lead to 4-0 in the fifth when Carlo Testa singled to drive in McCauley and Norris’ sacrifice fly into shallow right field was deep enough to score the speedy Testa.
Missoula’s sole offense came with Ryne White’s two-run home run in the sixth off reliever Jesse Carver. Starter Bryan Casey and reliever Tim Huber combined to pitch seven scoreless innings.
The two teams face off for the rubber match of the three-game series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.
